Structural timber is commonly manufactured using kiln dried radiata pine, which is highly durable and dimensionally stable. Structural pine is strong due to its low moisture content, minimising the risk of distortions and changes in dimensions. The drying process improves its strength, stiffness and capability to hold nails while also making it light and easier to handle.
Compliant to the Australian Standards (AS 2858-2008), our timber yard has kiln dried F7 pine boards in various sizes and lengths to suit your outdoor pergola and decking projects.

Sunstate Timbers supplies premium structural timber in Brisbane, specialising in kiln-dried radiata pine for residential and commercial construction projects. Our structural pine is carefully graded and kiln dried to deliver superior strength, durability, and dimensional stability — making it ideal for framing, beams, and load-bearing applications in Queensland’s demanding climate.
Our kiln-dried structural timber is engineered for long-term performance in Australian building conditions. The controlled kiln drying process removes excess moisture, helping prevent warping, twisting, and shrinkage after installation.
Whether you’re constructing a residential frame or a commercial structure, our kiln-dried radiata pine delivers predictable performance and long-lasting stability.
Different building applications require timber with specific performance characteristics. Kiln-dried structural pine is processed in a controlled environment that removes moisture evenly from the wood, resulting in timber with high strength, stiffness, and dimensional accuracy.
This process protects the timber from warping and movement as seasonal weather changes occur, helping builders achieve more precise construction outcomes and long-term structural reliability.
Compared to air-dried timber, kiln-dried pine offers improved structural performance, reduced weight, and better workability — making it easier to handle, faster to install, and more cost-effective on site.
The structural performance of kiln-dried radiata pine reaches its highest point when it delivers both strength and stiffness.
Timber left to dry in open air develops uneven moisture levels which results in continuous changes to its dimensions. Kiln drying removes moisture uniformly, creating stable timber resisting further moisture absorption. The construction process maintains its exact measurements through this stability because it stops any future issues from developing.
The initial cost of kiln-dried timber exceeds normal timber prices, yet it provides better value because it prevents future problems while delivering superior strength and accurate building dimensions.
Sunstate Timbers has spent more than five decades providing service to Brisbane’s construction industry which allows them to understand all local requirements. Our structural timber performs reliably across Queensland’s variable climate—from coastal humidity to inland temperature extremes.
The structural requirements for buildings extend to residential framing and commercial structures and renovation projects. Sunstate Timbers maintains the trust of architects and builders because they deliver dependable products which meet their strict quality standards.
